City & Guilds ‘Employability Skills’ qualifications help you to demonstrate that you have the personal skills, qualities and attitudes needed by employers. They will help you to look for, obtain and maintain employment. By developing your skills and confidence, these qualifications may also help you progress to further learning. They are made up of a wide variety of units which fall into two broad categories:

  • Employability and personal and social development units
  • Vocational ‘taster’ units

This suite of qualifications has been developed for the widest range of learners possible: young people and adults, those who are pre-employment, in employment or between jobs. They recognize the personal skills, qualities and attitudes required by employers across vocational sectors. There are no pre-conditions for entry and there is no minimum level of literacy or numeracy required. Qualification providers can deliver these qualifications alongside a language, literacy or numeracy qualification.

Single units can be achieved – assessment is through a variety of methods that include observation of natural work, observation in simulated environments, inspection of work products, discussions and oral questions, learner statements and written questions.
