City & Guilds Level 4 in Advice & Guidance – 3569-04: 37 credits (60016322)

These qualifications are for those working with clients in organisations providing advice and guidance services, on a professional or voluntary basis.
They are for anyone aged over 16 (Level 3) or 18 (Level 4) providing advice and guidance in a professional or voluntary role. You could be working in careers guidance, for a trade union, in a school, in housing, human resources or in health and social care. They covers communication and interactions to support clients in preparing and completing their chosen actions; the knowledge required to work with legislative and procedural frameworks; advocacy, mediation, representation and formal proceedings; working with other services through negotiation, liaison and referral; reviewing own development; understanding and promoting careers education guidance within organisations and enabling clients learning through group work, demonstration and instruction. They were developed in association with The Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS).
You can choose the qualification that demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you have developed, such as:
  • Understanding legislation and procedures
  • Negotiating on behalf of clients
  • Providing and maintaining information materials.
Learn is carried out in the work environment, with assessment will include a portfolio of evidence to meet the criteria of the qualification, recognition of prior learning and successfully following of a development programme. What is the right level? Level 3 Your role involves providing advice and guidance directly to clients, reporting to line management as well as associated services. You may also supervise and support other staff members. Level 4 Your role involves providing specialist advice and guidance to clients, reporting to senior management and networking with associated services, and managing, negotiating, training, evaluating and developing the service provision. Learners achieving Level 3 in Advice and Guidance may progress to level 4 depending on their work role and those achieving Level 4 in Advice and Guidance may progress into teaching or specialist areas such as counselling, mediation, careers guidance. These qualifications are for practitioners who provide information, advice and guidance to others i.e. their clients, customers, staff, etc - assessed in the workplace through observation, inspection of work product, discussions and oral questions, written questions, learner statements and witness testimony.
