‘THE VALUE OF FREE PLAY’

This workshop is relevant for those who already work in a Playwork setting to provide them with further development. Or for those who are thinking of or are recently employed in Playwork. Or those who are working towards a Playwork Qualification. Or those who work in the Childcare profession and are interested in developing their knowledge further or support completing the Early Years Educator L3.

The 2 hour workshop will cover the true ethos of Playwork within the 8 Playwork Principles and how free play enhances children’s development and resilience. The importance of children able to explore risk.

‘THE 17 PLAY TYPES’

This workshop is relevant for those who already work in a Playwork setting to provide them with further development. Or for those who are thinking of or recently employed in Playwork. Or those who are working towards a Playwork Qualification. Or those who work in the Childcare profession and are interested in developing their knowledge further or support completing the Early Years Educator L3.

The 2 hour workshop will cover Bob Hughes Taxonomy of Play Types which are relevant to the current Playwork National Standards. Ideas on how these different play types can be brought into practice and the benefits for the child taking part.

‘POLICIES / PROCEDURES / LEGISLATION FOR PLAYWORK SETTINGS’

This workshop is relevant for those who already work in a Playwork setting to provide them with further development. Or for those who are thinking of or are recently employed in Playwork. Or those who are working towards a Playwork Qualification. Or those who work in the Childcare profession and are interested in developing their knowledge further or support completing the Early Years Educator L3.

The 2 hour workshop will cover how policies and procedures are developed, evaluated and reviewed to ensure that they meet current legislation as well as the ‘rights’ of the child.

‘CHILD OBSERVATIONS TO MEET EYFS FRAMEWORK’

This workshop is relevant for those who already work in Childcare / Early Years Settings and wish to progress their development to carry out the required child observations and assessments. Or for those who are thinking of going into the profession and want to become familiar with this procedure. Also those who are working towards their Early Years Educator L3.

The 2 hour workshop will cover all of the different tools and methods to carry out effective child observations to identify their development outcomes and next steps, how these should be recorded and the art of evaluation and reflective practice.

‘THEORIES OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT’

This workshop is relevant for those who already work with Children to broaden their understanding of the theories behind child development and the impacts this can have on practice within the setting. Or for those who are thinking of going into the profession. Or for those who are working towards a Childcare Qualification whether it is the Early Years Educator, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or Playwork.

The 2 hour workshop covers the main theories of child development, including the pattern and rate of development from birth to age 7 in relation to: physical, communication, intellectual / cognitive, personal/social/emotional/behavioural. Brain development from conception to age 7 and impacts of different factors.

‘SAFEGARDING / PREVENT / BRITISH VALUES’

This workshop is relevant for those who already work in any Childcare / Early Years Settings and wish to progress their development and have a good understanding and updated knowledge to ensure all children are safe from harm. Or for those who are thinking of going into the profession and want to become familiar with their responsibilities. Also those who are working towards their Early Years Educator L3, Support Teaching and Learning in Schools or Playwork Qualifications.

The 2 hour workshop will cover the main legislations and guidelines regarding safeguarding, the importance of partnership working with other organisations, safe practices and procedures within the setting, how to identify possible signs, symptoms, indicators and behaviours of harm or abuse and how to respond to these, different types of bullying and how to respond to these, the importance of e-safety.
